Day 4 in Oso... Settled in
On a bumpy dirty road to.... Ok, we were on a dirty road. And now at this moment sitting on a deserted beach in a place called Playa Carate. Sitting on a stump looking at 100s of macaws and the ocean...without being in it. So many macaws. Jeff called it a magical moment. That was live blogging play by play for a moment. Which by the time it is posted could be days old... Yes, I am surviving without internet we all are.
Everywhere in CR there is so much going on all the time. Not with people and activities but with NATURE. Ocean, rain forest and a river...Hunter playing in the sand and exploring while Heather is close behind, our nature spotter (she can see a bird species from a mile away). Jeff, behind the camera and me just soaking in the wonder. Hunter's new favorite sport rock throwing into a little river.
We spent about 3 bumpy hours in the car today and we didn't complain once, on our way to Carate (pronounced karate). One hundred stops along the way for that perfect National Geographic birds, lizards and a toucans picture moment (Mike Hyland, you thought your brother took a lot of pictures in Kauai... Not so much - family insider moment). A couple of small river crossings, in our rental car and we arrive at the end of the road. Time to explore the beach. Impressive no cigarette butts or trash. The only debris are what mother ocean pushes up, tree stumps rocks and natural stuff, no people trash.
On day 4 we have come to the conclusion that even though life in the patio house (Punta Sonada), looked like it was going to be challenging we have adjusted and settled in to the environment and CR. The lack of people and traffic is good for the soul. Going to sleep to the sound of crashing waves and rain and waking up to squawking macaws the oceans and sunrise gorgeous.
At the airport in San Jose we met a man named Adam who owns a place down the road from where we are staying called the Blue Oso. At blueosa.com.
He invited us to come by and see his hotel/yoga retreat, we did yesterday and it is very serene and peaceful (since we almost booked rooms here, not knowing what we were doing at home on the internet, by just reading reviews, we were thanking our lucky stars we did not stay there with a toddler....phew. Yoga and toddlers- thinking the two don't mix together really well and some times the yoga people have no sense of humor). He said we should come back and try one of their spa treatments. More information to follow on this review tomorrow. Heather and I are booked for tomorrow am and when we booked it today I had sticker shock...when I was handed my receipt (pay in advance) I asked if the gratuity was included since it was a bit more than the price that was listed.... Nope they added a 13% tax. I have no idea if this is a normal tax or a pleasure massage tax.
Shout out to my Ohio and Kentucky family...I thought of you all when I saw a field full of lightening bugs, last night.
Disclaimer: to all my punctual friends and teachers and scholars... Sorry for errors and mess ups on the blog... I am doing this on the fly and have perhaps 10 minutes to do all the internet postings... Love you all and thanks for the comments here or on Facebook they me laugh...
